The inaugural WordCamp Asia 2020 has been cancelled. While some of us from the Malaysian WordPress community have been looking forward for the event, the cancellation decision is a good one, as the COVID-19 virus shows no signs of abating
The cancellation was announced on the official WordCamp Asia 2020 site as well as other major WordPress publications, including WordPress Tavern, Torque and Wordfence, among others.
If you are among the 1,600 attendees (like yours truly), and have difficulties getting a refund, you can either use the official WordCamp Asia cancellation letter, or contact Wordfence / GoDaddy for financial assistance. Wordfence and GoDaddy have both generously set aside USD 10k for assistance on a first come first served basis.
Based on Mark Maunder’s tweet, it seems that the Wordfence funds has reached its limits. Please proceed to GoDaddy if you do need assistance.
Finally, if you are a WordCamp Asia 2020 attendee, you will be provided with a free ticket for the future WordCamp Asia event. See you guys then and stay safe!
