It has been seven years since I published my first article on WordPress on TechGarage, my tech blog back then. After noticing that I was spending more time writing about WordPress instead of tech products, WPStarters was birthed.
Over the past two years, we have seen the slow but steady growth of the WPStarters in terms of both traffic and revenue. Our focus for the site has moved from educating clients on WordPress to the covering monthly AppSumo deals. However, by the end of last year, I decided to move us from covering the broad spectrum of digital marketing tools, to mainly WordPress, SEO and Chatbots, as that is what we do on a regular basis.
Along with this new change of direction, we wanted to revamp the site to make full use of Toolset (formerly known as WP-Types) and its faceted search. But Toolset was going through a transition to Gutenberg and was frustratingly buggy back then. We just had to make do with Beaver Builder and a lack of faceted search. It was a frustrating time. Toolset looked good, but was not ready.
Thankfully, Toolset has rapidly improved these six months. The grating bugs were no more. Heck, we even implemented Toolset on several client projects without issues.
The ‘New’ WPStarters Site
With the web design skills I picked up during the Covid-19 lockdown, I’ve revamped the site to include better color palette, hierarchy and layout. However, the most significant change is implementing Toolset Blocks on both the reviews archive as well as the reviews custom post type on the home page. Hopefully, the new design will make it easier for you to find and decide on the software you are thinking of buying.
Along with this change, you’ll also start seeing quizzes, calculators and giveaway competitions in the near future. But the number of reviews will definitely increase, as we settle on the new review style. Check us soon for more goodies.
